Ginger Coyle is one of Philadelphia's latest artists to emerge onto the music scene, but she is no stranger to the city of brotherly love. This retro songstress grew up in South Jersey and has actually been writing and performing music professionally for13 years. When she was fresh out of highschool in 2003 she won her first demo deal on the Wayne Brady Show taking first place in a talent search sponsored by Hard Rock. Since then she has opened for acts like Flobots, Cobra Starship, & B.O.B . She's has toured the midwest with rock band Third Eye Blind and you might even recognize her face from gracing the cover of PRICK Magazine.
Last May Ginger was selected a winner in the annual songwriting competition put on by the Philadelphia Songwriter's Project. The theme was REVOLUTION & her song "Moon and Back" stopped everyone in the room. That particular song was written 2008 after her previous hip hop band The Thunderkatz (signed with Universal Motown/ Murder Inc) broke up.
"It was time to get back to my instruments, myself, and really dig to find my voice as an artist. After being more of a studio singer with my old band and cranking out mindless pop and dance music. I was ready for a change. Partying is fun, but I was yearning to say something more in my music."
When Ginger's middle school music teacher found out she was starting to pen original songs again, she and her husband gave her the money she needed to build a small home studio to get her new music demoed. Those same demos came in handy last April when she entered Turtle Studios in South Philly to begin recording her fan funded debut "Homeward Bound" with producers Charlie Patierno and Ross Bellenoit on board. "Homeward Bound" is set to be released in the Spring of 2012 with much anticipation.
